From Survival to Safety: Nervous System Regulation Through Yoga
Explore the body’s natural survival responses of Fight, Flight, Freeze/Collapse, and Fawn and deepen your understanding of how they shape the way we feel, move and respond to life.
Each week, we'll spend two hours exploring one of these survival responses, creating space for deeper self-discovery and a greater understanding of how we naturally respond to stress. Through gentle yoga, somatic movement, breathwork, and journaling, you’ll learn to recognize your own patterns and develop practical tools to help calm, energize, or settle your nervous system when you need it most.
You don’t need to have a yoga practice or know anything about the nervous system to benefit from this series. This is an opportunity to slow down, tune into your body, and discover new ways to work with stress rather than feeling controlled by it.

Doris Vanderhyde
Doris discovered the transformative power of yoga over 25 years ago at a small Kripalu yoga studio in New York City and immediately fell in love with the practice. The profound connection she experienced between body, mind, and spirit sparked a deep passion for yoga that has continued to grow throughout the years. In 2022, she completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, followed by a 50-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training in 2023.
Doris is a clinical social worker and EMDR therapist specializing in trauma and anxiety. She is also a Registered Yoga Teacher with additional training in Applied Polyvagal Theory in Therapeutic Yoga for Trauma Recovery and is a certified Trauma-Informed Somatic Yin Yoga Teacher.
Her background in therapy brings a unique perspective to her teaching. Through an integration of yoga, somatic practices, and embodied awareness, Doris creates a safe and supportive space where students can slow down, connect with their bodies, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves. Her intention is to help each person discover their own path toward greater balance, healing, and empowerment.
