Yin Yang Yoga:
Yin Yang Yoga blends two styles of yoga into one practice – bringing together the benefits of Yin Yoga, which works on the deep dense (yin) connective tissues of the body, with Yang Yoga, the more well-known flow-based asana practice that develops muscular strength, stamina, and flexibility. A typical Yin Yang class will begin with the Yin practice of holding floor postures passively for 3-5 minutes, followed by the Yang practice of dynamic sequences and standing postures. The Taoist concepts of Yin and Yang describe the two relative qualities or energies present in everything; Yin being more internal, quiet, and cool, whereas Yang is more external, active, and warm. Both Yin and Yang are essential, and combining both elements in one class provides a well-rounded practice that will leave you feeling strong and at ease in your body.

Yin Yoga:
Yin yoga, a quiet and contemplative practice, works into our body on a very deep level. By holding floor poses passively and for longer periods (3-5 minutes), the connective tissues of the body - the ligaments, joints, bones, the deep fascial networks - are targeted. When attention is given to the connective tissue, circulation is increased, joint mobility is improved, and overall energy flow is refined, enhancing the flow of chi in the organs. And with an emphasis on mindfulness, each pose can be treated as a mini meditation, encouraging deeper relaxation and calming the mind/body.

Yoga Nidra:
The term Yoga Nidra means yogic sleep. It is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping and is a form of meditation. This class begins with gentle movement, then you'll create a rest nest with yoga props in the studio or pillows and blankets at home, and get into your most comfortable, cozy position while you listen to a guided meditation. The goal is to completely rest, relax, and take a break from life's stressors. This practice can be done in your pajamas and if you take the zoom class, then it can be done in bed, so you can fall asleep right after class ends. Sweet dreams! (Last Sunday of the month @ 7:30pm)
