Cha Dao Tea Ceremony
Come join us in a practice of mindfulness, gratitude, and tea as we shed the thick blankets of
winter and welcome in the rejuvenating energy of Spring.
Cha Dao translated as the way of tea in Chinese, is an ancient practice that integrates tea as a
plant, beverage, medicine, and ritual. The dao invites us to live our lives in harmony with nature,
respecting the lineage of the trees and leaves, slowing down to be present with tea, and
recognizing the chi exchange with each bowl and every sip. The ceremony we’ll be using
during this workshop is based on the style developed by Wu De (born Aaron Fisher) founder of
Global Tea Hut.
What you can expect:
Linh will introduce you to the basics of the Cha Dao ceremony, the background history of natural
teas, and the chosen tea of the day. You will be invited to choose a meditation prompt to help
focus your practice. The tea ceremony itself is an invitation to go within, and a practice for
staying truly present. During the ceremony everyone will be silent, with meditative music to
assist you in focusing on the present moment. After the ceremony concludes, we will sit in
community to engage with what we learned and to further share in the joy of tea.
Bring: Comfortable clothes that you can sit in stillness for an extended period of time. Cozy
layers and/or a shawl to stay warm and cozy
Provided: Everything else you'll need including all tea, props for sitting

Good to Know:
- The tea we will be drinking is caffeinated. Please note that there is not an option for non-caffeinated tea
- Only one type of tea is served during ceremony, this is not a tea tasting
- At this time, we do not recommend this workshop for young kids, as we will be sitting in silent meditation for some time and drinking caffeinated beverage
